A 23-year-old who stole a car and then drove it while unfit through drink has been re-sentenced after he failed to turn up for unpaid work.
Frederick Smith, of Greenroyd Mills, Sutton-in-Craven, near Keighley, received a community order from Skipton magistrates last month with supervision for a year, 250 hours’ unpaid work and a weekend curfew.
Smith had admitted stealing a car from a garage forecourt and then driving it while unfit through drink.
But magistrates heard that Smith had failed to attend unpaid work sessions on February 11 and 18.
Magistrates told Smith, who accepted the breach, that he had shown no inclination to follow the original court order.
They revoked the original order and re-sentenced him to a four-month curfew, to run seven days a week from 7pm to 7am. He was also ordered to pay costs of £40.
Magistrates warned Smith that if he breached the new order he could face a custodial sentence.
