A group of workers held a protest over a row with contractors at the opening of a housing development in Ravenscliffe, Bradford, yesterday.
Staff from H&H Groundwork Contractors waved placards as Yorkshire Housing unveiled its Oakdale Drive scheme of 24 houses for social rent.
It is believed the dispute is over what the Castleford firm claims are ‘late payments’ from Strategic Team Group, although a spokesman for the contractor said all invoices to date had been paid with discussions over a final bill.
The Oakfield Drive site originally consisted of flats and bedsits which had a long- standing problem with anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and burglaries. They were deemed unfit and demolished to be replaced with the new two, three and four bedroom houses.
