Opticians are urging residents to dig out their old, unwanted glasses so they help people in Africa.
The Specsavers stores in Idle and Shipley are collecting spare and unused frames and donating them to Vision Aid Overseas.
The glasses are recycled and the money raised is used to fund the charity’s work in developing countries. This includes giving people badly-needed eye tests and treatment, and training up local optometrists.
Last year the two shops collected more than 2,000 pairs of frames. Collection bins are in the stores.
