An Otley A level student is appealing for information about a prisoner of war camp which was housed in the town at the end of World War II.
Alasdair Love is trying to find out more about the camp and whether it has left any lasting legacy on Otley, as part of a history research project.
“Most physical evidence of the camp has long since vanished, but there must have been, to some extent, influence on the Otley community,” said Alasdair. “This might be a physical legacy such as structures built by the PoWs, a business legacy, such as local businesses started by former PoWs, or a community legacy, such as PoWs settling in Otley or keeping in touch with Otley locals.”
Alasdair can be reached on otleypowcamps@gmail.com or 07586 361449.
