A controversial plan for six houses on a field in Ilkley has got the green light, despite concerns one of the buildings would loom over its neighbour’s garden.
David Whittiker was first given outline planning permission for houses on land at Cheltenham Avenue in 2010, when he intended to build houses in the style of a converted barn.
He has since submitted more detailed plans for the site, this time for six semi-detached houses.
The new application came before Bradford Council’s Keighley planning committee yesterday, when an objector spoke out against the plans. Adrienne Hill, speaking on behalf of people living at neighbouring house Byfields, said two of the new properties would overlook the house and ruin their privacy. She said: “If these are built then there will be no part of Byfields that isn’t overlooked.”
While the committee agreed this was unfortunate, they still unanimously approved the application.
