A Bradford MP is aiming to ensure families in the city benefit from the Government’s Green Deal energy scheme.
David Ward, Liberal Democrat MP for Bradford East, said he wants to help households save money in the face of rising gas and electricity prices.
He questioned Greg Barker MP, the minister of state for energy and climate change, on what the Government was doing to make sure homes in Bradford benefit from the scheme.
Mr Barker responded by saying that Bradford Council had been awarded £141,500 to trial aspects of the Green Deal.
The scheme gives people the chance to make energy-saving improvements to their homes with no upfront costs.
Households pay for the improvements with a government-backed loan and repay the money through electricity bills over a period of up to 25 years.
