This year is the Diamond Jubilee of the formation of the Royal Marines Association, and to makr the occasion they celebrated with a big get-together at Limpstone.

More than a thousand ex Royals' turned up for the weekend in Devon at the Commando Training Centre.

Sixty years ago the Association was formed to help ex Corps members adjust to a new life in 'Civvie Street' Now with 77 branches at home and 13 abroad they gathered in Devon for reminiscence and meeting old mates.

Suez veterans could remember 50 years since Operation Musketeer and others recalled service in Borneo and other far flung parts of the world.

There was a chance to ride around in a "Viking" the new armoured vehicle, a drum head ceremony, parade of standards and a lot if fun. The Navy News had a lovely picture of Jimmy Saville (Honorary member of the Corps) being told to "Get his hair cut".
