Young people in Keighley have been invited to take part in a programme designed to help them learn new skills and get jobs.

They have been encouraged to get involved in the 12-week Prince’s Trust Team programme, which is for unemployed people aged 16 to 25.

Leeds City College will host two teams of participants at its Keighley Campus, in Bradford Road.

Alison Curnow, of The Prince’s Trust, said: “We are delighted to be announcing the next team programme in Keighley with Leeds City College. Too many young people feel they don’t have any skills and talents, and feel they’ll never amount to anything.

“The team programme really does help them to turn their lives around, helping them into work, education or training.”

People participating in the programme will take on community projects of their choosing, enjoy an action-packed residential week, complete two weeks' work experience and get advice on how to write CVs and improve their interview techniques.

A spokesman for Keighley Campus Leeds City College said: “We have already run a very successful programme in Leeds, where a group of young people planned and took part in a residential visit to Cumbria. This involved outdoor team-building challenges such as canoeing, gorge walking and mountain climbing.”

The first team started work yesterday, with the second beginning on Monday May 13.
