Police are investigating the robbery of an 80-year-old man at his home in Manningham.

Officers said details are minimal at the moment, but it is known the pensioner was assaulted.

He was found this morning at his terraced house on Carlisle Place by his daughter and is currently in Bradford Royal Infirmary being treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

It has been said locally that the man was followed home from a nearby newsagent's shop, but police were unable to confirm or deny it.

The man, who is Polish, was said by neighbours to be a quiet man who kept himself to himself.

Police said the incident was reported to them at 1.40pm today but added that they were unsure when the robbery happened.

A spokesman said they were trying to piece together information by speaking to the victim in hospital.
