Bradford is set to be hit by heavy snowfall today, warned the Met Office, with 15 centimetres predicted for some of the district.
An amber alert - the second highest bad weather warning - is in place for the West Yorkshire region.
Snow is expected to start falling in Bradford by 3pm, and is forecast to get heavier at 6pm.
Bradford Council claimed it is ready and that roads will be gritted in advance.
Councillor Andrew Thornton (Lab, Royds), executive member for environment and sport, said: “The Council has its normal fleet of gritters ready to go and these will be available overnight and throughout the weekend.
"The council will salt all of the normal routes in advance of the snow.”
