More details about a proposed new care home for older people will be revealed next week.

Representatives from Gladman will give a presentation about the 55-flat development they want to build off Bridge Street, Otley, to Otley Town Council's plans committee on Monday.

The developer held two consultations about its ideas for the former All Saints Middle School site in December to gauge public opinion, before submitting formal plans. A number of councillors have already welcomed the prospect of re-development, as the site has been considered an eyesore for several years.

But concerns have also been raised because the new plan would include the demolition of one of the town's most popular and historic cafes, Dunnies.

Town councillors will hear more about the proposals when they meet at the Aged People’s Welfare Centre, on Crossgate, at 7pm.
