Bradford Council plans to turn a former cemetery building in Utley, Keighley, into two houses.
The Utley Cemetery Lodge in Skipton Road was built in the mid 19th century and used by the authority as the office for the neighbouring cemetery and crematorium.
Earlier this year councillors proposed closing the facility, despite fears it would leave the cemetery unsupervised and prone to vandalism.
A petition to keep it operational generated more than 700 signatures, but in June the Council decided the closure should still go ahead and the building be sold.
The Council’s asset management unit has now submitted a planning application for change of use from office to two homes.
