A new education block and toilet facilities could lead to more people visiting a local nature reserve.
The Denso Marston Nature Reserve, next to the River Aire in Shipley, now has funding and planning permission to build the new facilities, and on Saturday staff there celebrated with the reserve’s Spiders Club.
The Friends of Denso Marston Nature Reserve have worked to secure the £24,257 improvement project to build an easy-access learning room and toilets, and work could be finished by May.
The education centre will be used for a range of activities by groups such as the friends group, the Spider Club, local residents, schools, and childcare and community groups.
The money has come from Denso Marston Ltd and the Veolia Environmental Trust.
Warden Steve Warrillow, said: “It is fantastic what the friends have achieved so far on this project. These new facilities have begun to develop the reserve for visitors, so they can spend more time enjoying this habitat haven. It will also enable us to expand our activities.”
