Bradford Council is to lobby the Government for an “urgent cash injection” to deal with what it believes will equal around £17 million of extra investment needed in adult social care by 2020 to meeting an increasing demand for services in the district.
It follows a Labour motion to last night’s full council meeting, which divided political parties on the authority.
Council leader David Green tabled the motion which also called for a show of support for the Local Government Association’s ‘Show Us You Care’ campaign.
Already the authority has invested around £20 million in services, but budgets in this department continue to face considerably more pressure from an increase in demand, the motion stated.
