Guiseley Comet has closed with the loss of 16 jobs.

The Guiseley shop became one of the latest to fall victim this week as more and more of the electrical retail outlets are shut down.

The company is running an employee assistance programme to help redundant staff to find new jobs, and it will be running employment fairs around the country in the New Year.

Closures are currently taking place at a total of 125 stores around the country. The remaining 70 stores will close once all of the remaining stock is sold.

The Comet vehicle fleet of 81 trailers, nine cars and 12 vans is being auctioned this week by the administrators. Online bids have been invited by auctioneers Jones Lang LaSalle by 1pm on Thursday at joneslanglasalle.co.uk/machinery-business-assets.
