A former Bingley Grammar School pupil is raising money for a project to fight poverty in Kenya.
Laura Searle, 24, an Oxford University graduate, is going on a three-month-placement as part of the Government-backed Inter-national Cit-izen Prog-ramme.
Laura hopes to travel to Kenya in January with development agency VSO.
Her placement is Government funded, but Laura wants to raise £1,500 to support the work of VSO.
She said: “I have already raised £1,000 through the generosity of friends and family. “I’ve also organised charity collections at train stations across the country.
“I can’t wait to travel to Kenya. I’ll live with a host family in Malindi, a coastal town on the Indian Ocean. I’m going to explore a range of issues underpinning global poverty.
