Pupils at Tong High School were urged to take part in politics during a visit by Professor the Lord Patel of Bradford.
The House of Lords’ peer, who has advised the Government on its national strategy for the prevention of terrorism, spoke to students about his work and answered questions on various aspects of the Parliamentary process.
The visit was organised through the Lords’ Speakers’ Peers in Schools outreach programme, which sees members of the house visit schools and colleges to give talks in support of their citizenship curriculum and encourage them to get involved in politics.
Trude Feiweles, associate headteacher at the school, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students.”
