Members of Buttershaw St Paul’s Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are well into rehearsals for Return to the Forbidden Planet at St George’s Hall in early 2013.
The juke box musical, featuring a lively score from the 1950s and 60s, follows the story of eccentric Doctor Prospero who invents an elusive ‘X factor’ formula giving him the power to turn his wild imagination into vivid reality. The high energy show evolved from a 1950s B-movie of the same name, which was loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Playing Doctor Prospero is Phil Jowett who is familiar to Bradford audiences, having taken on several roles with Buttershaw and other societies.
The show runs from January 22 to 26. Tickets are on (01274) 432000. Profits will go to charity.
