A 60-year-old runner from Bradford who completed the New York Marathon with a difference has received a letter of congratulations from Bradford East MP David Ward.
Joginder Singh, of Flockton Road, East Bowling, ran four laps of New York’s Central Park, a total of 26 miles, after the city’s showpiece event was cancelled by mayor Michael Bloomberg in the wake of Hurricane Sandy last month.
Mr Singh, who featured in the Telegraph & Argus when he took part in his sixth marathon, said he was “surprised” when he received a letter from the House of Commons.
In it, Mr Ward said it was “heartening” to read about the “talent and drive” of people like him.
“I wish you all the best in helping more people around the world and achieving your goal of having ten medals,” he added.
