Teenagers at a school were inspired by a visit from an author who writes fiction for young adults.

Alex Scarrow dropped in at Oakbank School, Keighley, to talk to Year Nine pupils.

He spoke about what led him to become a writer and signed copies of his books. Mr Scarrow is the author of the Time Riders book series, which focuses on a small group of young people who are chosen by a mysterious agency to travel through time to fix ‘broken’ history. The latest book in the series is due out this Christmas.

Mr Scarrow, who lives in Norwich, used to be a rock guitarist, later became a graphic artist, then decided to be a computer games designer.

Oakbank librarian Karen King said Mr Scarrow’s afternoon with the pupils was a success.

“He went down really well. The children enjoyed it and had a great afternoon,” she added.
