Twenty people braved the rain for an hour-long peace vigil to highlight the plight of those in the Democratic Republic of Congo tonight.
They were in Centenary Square from 4.30pm and included Ben and Kongosi Mussanzi, whose daughter is in Goma, and Jane Gregory, of Rape Crisis. Bradford Councillors Mohammad Shabbir and Ishtiaq Ahmed, of the Respect party, were also at the vigil.
Jane Gregory said: “I am here because of the horrific level of rape in the Congo which is used as a weapon of war.”
Coun Shabbir (Heaton) said: “The international community is standing by and not intervening.”
