Sporting heroes were guests of honour at a Bradford school’s awards evening.

Paralympian Andy Curtis and Olympic diver Hannah Starling visited Challenge College, which achieved its best ever GCSE and A-Level results this year.

The theme of Britishness and Diversity was celebrated at the event where blind sprinter Mr Curtis, an associate solicitor at Addleshaw Goddard, talked to the students about his experiences.

Diver Miss Starling presented PE awards to students.

Head teacher Ian Richardson said students’ achievements were celebrated each year at the awards evening.

He said: “This year’s event has been another amazing extravaganza celebrating Britishness, diversity and Bradford’s rich multi-cultural heritage through dance, music, drama and poetry.

“Arriving in a Maserati dressed as James Bond and walking in to the theme from Skyfall sung by the choir and school band was great fun. I am extremely grateful to Andy and Hannah for being our guests of honour – they are truly an inspiration to us all.”

Performances by post-16 drama students and the school band and choir celebrated the diverse society in Britain.
