A Bradford coffee shop owner has raised more than £1,500 with a sari sale for breast cancer charity The Haven.

Sue Patel, who owns Coffee Central in the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, holds the annual event to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

She said fundraising for breast cancer charities is something “close to her heart” after several members of her family were diagnosed with cancer in the past.

“The Yorkshire Haven, based in Leeds, provides a vital support facility for those affected by breast cancer in Bradford, as well as across the rest of Yorkshire,” she said. “The services they provide can really make a difference to the lives of sufferers and their families and I felt it was an important cause to raise awareness of and help to support.”

The Kirkgate Shopping Centre donated the space for the sari sale free of charge.

Centre manager Catherine Riley said: “We felt it was important to help support one of our tenants fundraise for such a worthy cause, as well as help raise further awareness of services provided by The Yorkshire Haven.”
