Heritage trails created by schoolchildren tracing the ‘hidden history’ behind areas of Bradford have gone on display.
More than 600 youngsters have created the trails, which explore West Bowling, Great Horton and Little Horton.
Put together over the past year by children at 11 primary schools, they link people such as King Richard III, Kiki Dee, Pocahontas, Monster Raving Loony Party Minister Wild Willi Beckett, and Joseph Hobson Jagger, known as “the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo”, with the areas.
Project leader Malcolm Hanson, who worked with the children on the trails, said: “The children have looked into myths, legends and ancient history. They touch on things like the 18th century Bowling Windmill and the Horton workhouse.”
The heritage trails are on display at St Stephen’s Church, West Bowling, today from 10am to 3.30pm.
