Two Bradford schools have been praised for their progress by Ofsted inspectors.

The education watchdog hailed Lilycroft Primary School for its good progress and quality of teaching, while Woodside Primary School and Children’s Centre was recognised for its pupils’ outstanding behaviour after separate visits earlier this year.

Lilycroft Primary School, Manningham, was declared ‘good’ after the inspection – improving on its previous ‘satisfactory’ rating.

In a report, inspectors said: “The head teacher has successfully led the school through very challenging times.”

It goes on to add “the rigorous systems that have been introduced have improved pupils’ progress and caused an upward trend in attainment”.

Nicola Roth, head teacher, said: “We are delighted with this wonderful report as it reflects how we see the school. Parents, pupils, staff and governors have all worked hard to bring about the improvements which have led to Lilycroft Primary School being judged good.

“This is a whole school and community achievement, of which we are all very proud.”

Woodside Primary School and Children’s Centre in Buttershaw was judged to be ‘good’ with ‘outstanding features’ after its inspection.

A report said: “Behaviour is excellent. Pupils are polite, friendly and considerate towards others, reflecting the high levels of care provided by the school.”

The watchdog found teaching was ‘good’ and some ‘outstanding’.

The report adds: “Good relationships with staff and well planned lessons capture pupils’ interest and ensure they are keen to learn.”

Andy Walsh, chairman of governors, said: “We are delighted with this glowing report as it reflects how we see our school. Parents, carers, pupils, staff and governors led by Jane Browne, our head teacher, have all worked hard to bring about the improvements which have led to Woodside being judged good with outstanding features.”
