An organisation providing specialist social and education groups for people with dementia and their carers, has become Inspire Bradford Business Park’s newest tenant.

The social enterprise company called The Memory Tree, formed by Dr Elizabeth Milwain and Carol McNab, has taken office space within the enterprise centre to give the organisation its first permanent headquarters.

Dr Milwain has four years’ experience as a freelance dementia care trainer and consultant and has also worked as a lecturer with the Bradford Dementia Group at the University of Bradford.

Mrs McNab has been working alongside Dr Milwain to develop reminiscence resources that can be used in social settings to encourage sharing, fun and friendship.

She will assist in the development and management of The Memory Tree’s community groups, helping to give those with dementia and their families easy access to support and advice. From its Inspire office, The Memory Tree will organise social groups for people with dementia and their carers as well as expanding its operation to connect with more people in the Bradford area who need dementia support and education.

The pair hope to expand The Memory Tree’s volunteer network through partnership with local churches and continue to link with organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society and Carer’s Resource.

Dr Milwain said: “We’re delighted to have found Inspire and are very excited to have moved to our new office.

“Inspire’s community values and environmental credentials really appealed to us and the location is ideal too. We particularly liked that we have access to the fantastic training rooms and we think the proximity to the NHS will be very useful in the future.”

The new £4 million Inspire Bradford Business Park was officially opened by the Duke of Gloucester last month and is close to the Eccleshill Community Hospital.
