Workers in Bradford will benefit from hearing screening when an award-winning Bionic Ear roadshow visits on Wednesday.

Following a successful visit to the BASF UK Cheadle headquarters in July, national charity Deafness Research UK’s roadshow has been asked to visit the company’s Bradford site in Cleckheaton Road, Low Moor.

The event will consist of two shows while hearing screenings for staff will take place throughout the day.

Through interactive performances and by providing screenings, the charity’s experts will deliver information about noise in the workplace and good ear health.

Sponsored by BUPA and the Big Lottery Fund, the Bionic Ear Show tours the country accompanied by the “world’s largest ear”, visiting schools, colleges and community groups, warning people of the dangers to their hearing from loud noise.

The show also visits businesses to remind workers of the need to take responsibility for their hearing health, both in and out of the workplace.

“Free hearing screening is a great way to check if your hearing is as it should be,” said Vivienne Michael, chief executive of Deafness Research UK. “So whether you have experienced exposure to loud sounds at work or play, we hope the opportunity to get a hearing health check-up will support health and safety in the workplace and encourage anyone concerned to come forward.”

Anyone who would like the roadshow to visit their school, group or event free of charge should contact Laura Turner on (0207) 164 2294.
