School pupils raised more than £500 for a charity supporting injured troops by scaling the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
The cash from the trek will go towards Help For Heroes.
The organisation was selected by sixth formers from South Craven School, in Cross Hills, near Keighley.
They had made their decision before an incident in Afghanistan, in which former South Craven pupil sergeant Gareth Thursby, who was buried yesterday, was killed by a rogue Afghan police officer.
A spokesman for the school said: “The students have been busy thinking up ways to raise as much money as possible. One of these ideas was to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
“So on a frosty October morning, eight students along with four members of staff set out. The first climb of Pen-y-Ghent went quickly, while the walk to Whernside gave a sense of scale to the challenge.
“The students showed real determination in completing the challenge in nine hours and 20 minutes.”
The pupils who took part were: Lydia Whitaker, Laura Greenwood, Connor McAvoy, James Figg, Mark Smith, George Sellars, Callum Mulloy and Jack Maude.
