After suffering inconsistency in the league recently, Silsden will be glad of Saturday's cup excursion.

The Cobbydalers have suffered two 5-0 losses in their last four games in the North West Counties League Premier Division but they head to Division One Cheadle Town this weekend for a League Cup second-round tie.

Almost a full division separates the Cobbydalers from their hosts. Cheadle are seventh while Silsden currently occupy ninth in the top tier.

The visitors will be expected to progress but confidence could be low after Tuesday’s heavy defeat at Colne.

Spokesman Jim Rosser said: “Colne were the better side but the scoreline was flattering for them.

“It was one of those games when we weren’t at our best. Our former keeper Chris Thompson had a magnificent game for our rivals and they had a player on loan from Barrow who got a hat-trick.

"We will see what affect all that has had when we go to Cheadle!”
