A developer wants to build 23 new homes on the grounds of a now-demolished stone house in the Spen Valley.
Fendale Developments LLP would build the homes, and a new estate road, off Leeds Road, Liversedge, if planners give the go-ahead at a meeting tomorrow.
The development would have a mixture of two and three-storey homes, some of which affordable housing.
The land was formerly the extensive grounds of Popeley House.
Planning officers for Kirklees Council have recommended that the Heavy Woollen planning sub-committee gives outline permission for the plan, despite objections from locals, who fear the development would be too dense, that three-storey homes could block out light to neighbouring properties and that there may be bats living on the site.
But planning officers have said it would be a boost to the housing stock.
