An improving primary school in Bradford has been praised by Ofsted.

The schools inspection body judged Clayton Primary to be good. A previous Ofsted report in March 2010 said the school was satisfactory.

Inspectors were impressed with its high expectations and improved attendance.

Head teacher Jo Kurasinski, who was praised in the report for strong and ambitious leadership, said: “We are very pleased and proud with this recent report as it reflects how we see the school.

“We strive to put children at the centre of what we do and create a learning environment in which all our children can achieve.”

The Ofsted report highlighted good teaching and learning and said pupils particularly enjoyed lessons where there were chances for independent learning and activities.

It also said children were quickly developing the basic skills needed to build confidence in reading and writing.

Chairman of governors Angela Dobson said: “Parents, pupils, staff, governors and our wider school community have all worked together to bring about the improvements which have led to Clayton Primary School being judged Good.”

Kath Tunstall, strategic director for children’s services at Bradford Council, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Clayton Primary – of which the pupils, staff, parents and governors should be very proud.”
