A Bradford police officer has appeared in Court accused of using a patrol car to stop a man, causing him a number of injuries.
PC Steven Mullaney, 40, of West Yorkshire Police, appeared before magistrates in Sheffield yesterday, charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The charges relate to an incident in Mary Street, Bradford, on March 18 when a police car driven by PC Mullaney was in collision with a 38-year-old man who suffered injuries, including to his shoulder and ankle.
It is also alleged that the officer made an attempt to conceal evidence about the incident.
Mullaney, who is based at Lawcroft House Police Station, Manningham, appeared for a brief hearing yesterday at which magistrates ruled that the case was to be transferred to Crown Court.
Mullaney was given unconditional bail.
He will appear again at Sheffield Crown Court on October 29.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has conducted an investigation into the allegations after a referral by West Yorkshire Police.
