HORRIBLE Histories author Terry Deary will be at the National Media Museum for half-term fun based on the books.

The popular children's author will present the Villainous Victorians roadshow on October 29, treating visitors to savage stories, foul facts and silly songs, as well as meeting fans and signing books.

Fiendishly fun activities inspired by the Horrible Histories books will take place from October 25 to November 2. Other events throughout the week include a video tutorial featuring Horrible Histories illustrator Martin Brown sharing tips.

The museum will plunder its photography collections from the Victorian era to look at vile villains, ghastly ghosts and ingenious inventions from that period. Free events inspired by the Horrible Histories world will take place from 10am until 4pm each day.

Learning team leader Elaine Richmond said: “As this great series proves, history can be really horrible, and we’ve got the evidence. Visit the National Media Museum in October half term to find out how spooky spirits popped up in old family snaps, discover the secrets of a Victorian murder mystery and also see some of the devilishly devious inventions from a century ago. Plus there’s the chance to meet the author Terry Deary as well as get hands-on with Victorian science and gadgets.”
