Reborn Baildon Carnival had a bumper crowd in its the second year, said town councillor and organiser Peter Ashton.

"Obviously we had good weather and it was even better attended than the first year, which was great," Cllr Ashton said.

"People were saying how delighted they were and all the stallholders were very pleased.

"Bradford's Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Abid Hussain opened the carnival and stayed for at least two hours talking to all the stalls and having pictures taken with the children, which was very much appreciated.

"And then he also cut the ribbon to officially open the refurbished rugby clubhouse."

Cllr Ashton said after money from profits had been set aside to pay for next year's event, all the spare cash would be shared out among local groups and organisations.

"It was a great day and there were long queues to get in," said ward councillor Debbie Davies (Con, Baildon).

"The Baildon Belles WI tea tent was bustling, the live music was good and the fun run for children of all ages was really popular too, with free water kindly supplied by B&M stores," said Cllr Davies, who worked as a volunteer toilet attendant during the event.
