KIND-HEARTED school pupils raised more than £2,000 for charity after taking part in a Race for Life event.
Children at Shipley CofE School, Otley Road, took part in the run as part of a huge effort to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Each year group ran different distances, with Year 6 pupils taking on a mile-long route.
Emma Halliday, who is part of the school’s health and wellbeing team, said: “The children had a great time, they all loved it.
“The weather was terrible, but no-one complained at all.
“What we liked the most, the children just helped everybody else.
“Even when they had finished, they went back to help others. It was a great atmosphere.
“Parents came along and supported it and some staff took part. It has gone beyond all our expectations.”
The fundraising total now stands at £2,223.50, smashing the school’s initial target of £1,000. That figure could rise as there is still money coming in.
