FIFTY videos, filmed to mark the University of Bradford’s 50th anniversary, are now available to view online.

Early last year, the university announced that to mark the landmark year it would be uploading videos capturing the “essence” of the institution, one by one over 12 months.

Videos uploaded on to the University website told stories of students, alumni, honorary graduates, staff and office-holders spanning five decades.

Subjects addressed in the videos range from rowing across oceans to negotiating in the Middle East to working in remotest Uganda.

All 50 videos have now been uploaded.

Prime Minister Harold Wilson, first chancellor at the University, helped open the institution in 1966, although it has been part of Bradford in different forms since the early 1800s.

When it first opened it had 2,694 full time students - now it has more than 15,000 studying in the UK and overseas.

The first video was a short film about John Horton, a senior library assistant with the University from its beginning in 1966.

Other videos feature Baroness Betty Lockwood, former chancellor and Max Cooter, a former student who helped Bradford win University Challenge in 1979.
