Enterprise is still alive in Queensbury where sisters Karen Holland and Dianna Bamforth are defying the recession and opening a new gym with a twist.
Open to the public for the first time today, the American-themed Legends Gym, which is complete with a 6ft model of boxer Mike Tyson, is located at Black Dyke Mills in Brighouse Road.
Mrs Holland, 31, who went to Queensbury School as a teenager, said she had been plotting the American-style business for sometime.
“I’ve always loved America and I spent some time in Los Angeles working as a bodyguard,” she said.
“I’ve had these ideas for the last five years so it’s nice to give Queensbury a new gym.”
The sisters attracted around 100 people from local businesses to a preview evening on Thursday and one of Mrs Holland’s former fitness students, Bradford-born Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain went along for the opening.
Terrorvision guitarist turned artist Mark Yates, whose artwork adorns the walls, also dropped in.
