Seven people are tonight being quizzed by police after swoops on three cannabis factories in Bradford and Leeds.

Officers in the Bradford District Drugs Team seized more than 1,000 cannabis plants following a series of raids on properties in Undercliffe and Manningham in Bradford and Beeston in Leeds.

They also uncovered two other buildings in Wrose and Undercliffe, which were being turned into cannabis factories, a West Yorkshire Police spokesman said.

The operation began after the officers spotted a 34-year-old man wanted in connection with growing cannabis, walking into a building in Claremont Terrace, Wrose, at 3.30pm yesterday.

He was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis following a search of the property in which paraphernalia used for cultivating the drug was found.

The discovery led them to other addresses across Bradford. Five more people - aged between 25 and 47 - were also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Another factory was uncovered when the officers checked a property in Beeston, Leeds and a 35-year-old man was arrested there on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.
