A KEIGHLEY business is kitting out camper vans with a range of furniture as part of a new sales drive as the firm continues its expansion.

Kiravans, based in Dalton Lane, has launched its own range of furniture for the T5 and T6 short wheelbase models as part of its online Volkswagen retail range.

The firm, which was formed in 2005, is offering products including a kitchen pod, a low-level unit and a standard high-level rear unit.

Because the furniture is modular, it means that camper van owners who do not want to commit to doing the whole job in one go can add-on when they wish.

Rob McCandless, Kiravans director, said the van furniture range will also appeal to DIY enthusiasts as well as petrolheads.

He said: “We’ve all spent time struggling with flat pack kits, but Kiravans doesn’t sell flat pack kits.

“Our furniture is 90 per cent pre-assembled when the delivery man arrives, so it’s an evening job to install; because weekends are for having fun.

“Comprehensive instructions guide you step-by-step through the installation process and our kits include everything you need, so hopefully you’ll not be wasting time running off to the DIY store.

“We think it’s a big step forward for self-build enthusiasts.”

The furniture is specifically designed to work with 112-centimetre RIB bed/seat with no slider mechanism and with the standard (short) 65cm rear cushions, and a slider mechanism does not cause any problems.

Other seat models that are 112cm wide or less will fit, but buyers need to check where the seat will be located in relation to the cupboard doors.

The firm’s move into furniture is seen as a further expansion for them after it took on two new employees, including its first trainee.

Samantha Ettenfield was recruited as purchasing controller, while Skye Taylor joined as an e-commerce customer services apprentice last month.

Skye, 17, who lives in Keighley, will split her time over the next 12 months between the Kiravans base at Acre Park and Shipley College, where she will study on day release.

Kiravans relocated to a larger warehousing unit in Dalton Lane and opened a second distribution depot in Cornwall to serve a growing market in the south-west last year.
