Winner: Park House Healthcare

Green values really are at the heart of Park House Healthcare.

The company, which was founded in 1984, is now recognised as a market-leading supplier of pressure area care equipment, specialist beds and moving and handling solutions to the NHS, community and nursing home sectors.

And its investment in eco-friendly measures is reaping huge cost savings as well as helping it do its bit for the planet.

Last year, Park House Healthcare invested almost £40,000 in a new lighting system triggered by motion sensors, cutting down on energy being wasted by lights being left on unnecessarily.

The move cut the organisation’s bills by nearly 40 per cent.

The Birkenshaw-based firm also installed speed limiters and trackers in every vehicle in its fleet, reducing fuel consumption by three per cent.

It has also made an investment in its laundry decontamination facilities, set up an environmental green team to champion eco-friendly values, reduced its packaging content and introduced waste segregation and recycling programmes.

Not content with its own green makeover, Park House Healthcare is now working with its suppliers to improve their environmental performance too.

Finance director Dan Perry was there on the night to accept the award.

He said: “It’s exhilarating really. We were here last year, when we won Medium to Large Business of the Year.”

He said Park House Healthcare had spent a lot of time on its eco-friendly measures, and had been given ISO accreditation.

He said: “The dividends have paid off. This recognises the work that we have done.”
