CC Dance was acquired on January 2018 by Clare Quinn and Catriona Murdock and launched two months later on March 30th. Their 5th year anniversary is about to be celebrated on 30th March! The Dance company offers 56 classes a week taught by 12 professionally trained teachers. They are open from Monday to Thursday at 3.30pm to 8.30 pm and Saturday at 8.30 am to 4pm. Depending on the two factors of time and dance style, the classes start from £6 a week.

It is vital in acknowledging that just because it is mainly found that students start ballet at a young age, does not mean that it cannot be taught with the right teaching and mindset. Despite the fact there are more girls in ballet, there is several boys who enjoy it in the CC Ballet Programme.

CC Dance Associate Programme stated, “Practice does not make perfect, but it does make permanent if it is taught the right way!”

Equipment that is acquired in CC Ballet Programme for ballet is ballet barres, stretch bands, balls, yoga mats and chiffon material. The uniform needed for ballet includes: a leotard, ballet socks or tights, ballet shoes, and a skirt depending on age. There are different sets of uniforms for boys and girls.  Ballet is only one dance style dance, although it is the core and helps in learning other styles. If the basic ballet technique is strong, CC Dance Company offers tap dance, jazz, street, acro and performing arts classes.

CC Dance, children are encouraged to take part in shows as performance opportunities is deemed important, as well as competing locally and nationally.  School shows were performed at the Alhambra, Guiseley theatre and Yeadon Town Hall, which are venues accommodated by a large group of dancers. In addition, they have also performed at Disneyland in Paris and at the 02 Arena. Many of the students successfully competed in the final of the All England Dance final in July 2022, and over the 5 years, have won a number of regional championships. Several students are also part of the Royal Ballet Junior Associate Programme.

Regardless of the style of dance, students at CC attain skills for social interaction, spatial awareness, coordination, and problem solving, while also learning to listen to music and rhythm and master numerous life skills which can be leveraged throughout their lives. Ballet is also great at developing the skills of strength, flexibility, agility, and endurance. Ballet is discipline, having the right training means getting it right!

As this takes time, CC puts children through exams, as following the IDTA syllabus, as having students understand that each exam grade takes time to allow them to see their success, as knowing it is not easy but working hard so great achievements will come their way. The students are also able to see if their technique needs some work as it is encouraged to stay in the grade they are currently in, until they have perfected it.
