Gulbar Ahmed, left, who has lost a long battle against cancer

First published in Sport

GREAT Horton are mourning the death of former skipper and club official Gulbar Ahmed, who has lost his eight-year fight against cancer.

The 45-year-old remained remarkably cheerful throughout his brave battle and closely followed the careers of his three sons, who all play in the Bradford League – Raheel at Baildon and Irsalan and Daanyaal at Lightcliffe.

JCT600 Bradford League chief executive David Young said: "Gulbar loved his cricket and was always a cheery presence. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time."

So sorry to hear this, Gulbar was a very jolly and friendly character, remember him fondly from his time at Bowling Old Lane CC, and he will have been 100%behind Great Horton CC as well, hope his three children follow in his footsteps and make him proud, I'm sure they will. RIP
