A FUNDRAISING event will take place next month for a teenage leukaemia victim at the soccer club where he has been a player since the age of six.
Luke Harrison, aged 15, has played at Queensbury Celtic FC since he was a youngster but is now facing a battle against the disease which will mean spending time either in hospital or isolation at home for his recovery in the months ahead.
The club has organised a car washing event on Saturday, September 16, which will run from 10 am until 2 pm, raising cash towards the support he will need in the months ahead.
Those who have been working to support Luke have previously been dealt a blow at the hands of thieves who stole cash donated to help.
About £250 had been collected in jars at the Royal Hotel in Clayton, which were clearly marked as fundraising cash. They were taken during a burglary, along with other valuables.
