PUPILS have been entertaining Bradford passengers with Christmas carols at the city’s Interchange in memory of a school friend.

Marty Bear, the mascot from Martin House, also put in an appearance to greet children from Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College, Appleton Academy, Crossley Hall Primary School and Whitcliffe Mount High School who sang yesterday and on Monday.

Buttershaw teacher Sarah Steele said: “I’m very proud of our children who all wanted to come along to sing in memory of their friend Connor Lancaster, they did an amazing job.”

Connor, of Folly Hall Road, Wibsey, lost his battle against bone cancer in June, just hours after college friends helped his final prom wish come true.

Ten of his friends and college staff took the prom to him at Martin House Hospice, which the pupils supported with their festive singing this week.

Community Fundraiser for Martin House, Sarah Tarpey said: “Over a third of children who come to Martin House are from Bradford and These events are a great opportunity to raise awareness in the city of Martin House, which provides such a valuable facility for families like Connor’s.”
