A WOMAN was led to safety by firefighters after her flat filled with smoke.

A blaze had started in a bin store under the staircase to the first-floor flat in Kettlewell Drive, Little Horton, at about 10pm on Saturday.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was trapped in her kitchen after the staircase and her flat became engulfed with smoke.

Fire crews from Odsal and Bradford stations were called to the scene. A spokesman from Odsal station said the woman had been trapped for about five minutes and was not injured. He added that the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was not believed to have been started deliberately.
