A teenager’s online petition to save a Bradford medical centre from an uncertain future has been backed by more than 2,000 names so far.
James Slater, 15, who lives near Eccleshill Treatment Centre, started the petition after reading in the Telegraph & Argus that the centre could close with no contractor in place to run it after July.
James, who is studying GCSEs at Titus Salt School, Baildon, said his He hopes his ‘non-political’ petition will be heard by members of Bradford Council’s health and social care committee on Wednesday. Care UK’s contract runs until July 7 – as part of the tender process it had to submit a new bid to continue running the centre but its bid, along with two others from un-named companies, was “not acceptable.”
James said: “The petition has really taken off and I hope it shows just how much people round here want to save it.” More details of James’s petition are available by viewing
