TYREIK Wright has an immediate goal with his return to City – to score in front of the Kop.

The winger has set himself the challenge of netting double figures during his second loan stint at Valley Parade.

And he cannot wait to break his duck beneath the most iconic stand of the ground.

Wright scored four times in 17 appearances last season – three of those were at home against Stevenage, Swindon and Harrogate but were all at the Bradford End.

He said: “I’ll be looking to score at the other end in front of the fans – I haven’t done that yet.

“It was always at the other end or away. That’s definitely one of my aims.

“There are 19 games left in the season and if I play up top off Cooky or whoever and make those runs in behind, I know I can put chances in the back of the net.

“Wherever I play, if it’s on the wing, I know what I’m capable of. I don’t see why I can’t (score 10 goals).”

Wright has found game time hard to come by at Plymouth but he knows City fans will expect him to hit the ground running. He is happy to live with that expectation.

“I don’t really look into what I’d done last time because that’s in the past,” he added.

“I’ll be looking to pick up from where I left off and do even better than before.

“If you feel loved, appreciated and respected as a player then you’re going to play your best football.

“I think that’s a big thing for me. The last time I was here I felt like the star boy really with the fans.

“I appreciated that love so it made me want to give everything for the club and the fans and I think I did that the best I could.

“I think we were around the same points last time. I know we’ve got quality players here and feel like we’ll do the job.

“As a player you want to play for the trophy or the promotion at the end of the season.

“That’s what all the lads are like and we’ll do our best to get it whether it’s automatic promotion or play-offs.”

Wright is praying that the weather doesn’t beat City today and the Valley Parade pitch thaws in time for the Doncaster derby to go ahead.

“I’ve been looking forward to it all week and I’ll be absolutely gutted if the game’s cancelled.

“I just want to be back at Valley Parade playing in front of the fans and enjoying my football again.

“I’m naturally fit anyway but game fitness is a totally different thing.

“I don’t think I’m too far off. I’ve known myself since November that I wasn’t going to be around (at Plymouth) in January.

“I’ve just been getting myself ready, training as hard as I can and looking forward to getting started.”
