JOE Cullen is back in the swing of things in the PDC Players Championship season, with another last-eight spot under his belt.
The Bradford thrower had reached a semi-final last time out in Germany, before losing to eventual winner Gerwyn Price, with this week’s triple header a little closer to home in Barnsley.
Cullen was in good form at Players Championship 19 on Sunday, dispatching Josh Payne 6-4 and then Lewis Williams 6-2.
He came up against Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld in the last-32 and dismantled him 6-1 to progress.
The Wyke native came up against Vladimir Andersen in the last-16 and beat him by the same scoreline, setting up a quarter-final against his close friend Dave Chisnall.
And it was ‘Chizzy’ who prevailed against ‘The Rockstar’, beating him 6-2.
Chisnall went on to reach the final, losing a thrilling showpiece 8-7 to Callan Rydz.
Bradfordian Cullen made a bright start the following day in South Yorkshire too, beating Robert Grundy 6-3 in his opener.
But this time his run was far shorter, as Jermaine Wattimena dispatched him 6-4 in the last-64.
Cullen was back in action yesterday too, for the final part of the triple header in Barnsley.
He thumped James Wilson 6-1 in his opener, before seeing off Maik Kuivenhoven 6-3.
The Wyke man came up short in the last-32 though, beaten 6-1 by Niels Zonneveld.
He is set to be back in PDC European Tour action this coming weekend, as the players head back to Germany to take part in the German Darts Open in Jena.
It is event 11 out of 13 on this year’s European Tour.
Cullen is also taking part in an exhibition event at Valley Parade tomorrow.
