Latest: Person dies on train line between Bradford and Sowerby Bridge, police confirm

TRAINS have been cancelled as the emergency services have rushed to a railway line near a Bradford station.

Northern Rail said just before midday that all lines between Bradford Interchange and Sowerby Bridge Railway Station are blocked.

This is due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between those stations.

A spokesperson for Northern Rail said: "Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed."

The following train services are unable to run between Bradford Interchange and Sowerby Bridge Railway Station, in both directions:

  • Leeds - Manchester Victoria/Wigan Wallgate via Brighouse
  • Leeds - Manchester Victoria/Chester via Bradford Interchange
  • York - Blackpool North
  • Halifax - Hull
  • Bradford Interchange - Huddersfield

The 9.49am train from Wigan Wallgate to Leeds is delayed at Sowerby Bridge, while the 10.23am service from York to Blackpool terminated at Halifax, according to Northern Rail.

A spokesperson for the train operator said: "Ticket acceptance in place with Transpennine Express between York and Manchester.

"Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption."

Road transport has been requested to operate between Hebden Bridge and Bradford Interchange.
