A SISTER has paid tribute to her brother who tragically died in a crash and has spoken of how excited he was at the prospect of graduating.

Leeds Beckett University student Husayn Ali, of Shipley, died in a three-car crash on Bolton Road last week.

The 21-year-old passed away in hospital from injuries he suffered in the crash near the junction of Boars Well Drive, just before 9pm on Thursday, March 7.

His sister Alima Wahab, 19, said her brother was looking forward to graduating later this year.

"He was in his last year. We were making plans for his graduation. We were going to go out for steak and bowling, he was so excited," she said.

Alima described Husayn as a "caring person" who always put others before himself.

"He had three sisters and one older brother," she said.

"The girls live close to school and I do to work but he would always drop us off in the morning when we could have taken the bus."

She added: "He was so thoughtful.

"I am in his old room and he bought me an electric blanket before it became mine because he knew how cold it could get.

"He painted my room for me before my birthday as a surprise. I took stuff like that for granted."

Four other people were taken to hospital and an arrest was made in connection with the incident.

Police confirmed the arrested man has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Alima said: "I was really shocked. It was so sudden. When you just get that phone call to come to the hospital, you are just like 'What'!

"I am still in denial about it. Right now it does not even feel like he has gone. It feels like he has just gone away for the weekend and will be back soon.

"I don't want to hear what happened, I just want him to be at peace. I want to hear more about what he is like as a person.

"Everyone who has contacted me since it happened has said how wonderful a person he was."

Ramadan began early this week but understandably it did not feel the same for the family.

"It's just so empty," Alima said.

"He was such a family man and loved it when everyone came over.

"As much as it was nice to have the family over, you could just tell that things weren't right."
